Browser security prevents websites from renaming local files directly. Instead, the selected files are packaged in a ZIP under their new names.
Uploaded files never leave your device. Processing uses your local computer only.
Selected files are read in your browser and compressed with JSZip. Original files are never sent to or stored by the MISCLAND server.
Q. Are the original files changed?
No. Your original files remain unchanged. The tool only downloads a ZIP containing copies with the new filenames.
Q. What happens if two files get the same name?
Duplicate names are highlighted in red in the preview. When creating the ZIP, numbers are added automatically to prevent filename conflicts.
Q. Is the folder structure preserved?
Standard file selection processes filenames only. Folder selection varies by browser, so the tool is designed primarily for selecting multiple files.
Q. Can it handle large files?
Because the ZIP is created in browser memory, very large batches may take time or slow down the browser.
Organize photos: Organize travel photos or screenshots with consistent date and number patterns.
Package files to share: Clean up filenames and send everything in one ZIP so the recipient can stay organized.
Review before organizing: Run the Duplicate File Finder first, then rename the remaining files for a cleaner result.
Keep a change log: Download a CSV to keep a record of original and changed filenames.
Combine prefixes, suffixes, find/replace, starting number and digit width, letter case, spaces-to-underscores, special-character cleanup, and lowercase extensions. New names update in the preview immediately; the originals are not renamed directly, and copies with the new names are downloaded in a ZIP.
